This trail was originally a livestock service trail connecting two
line cabins. The vegetation consists of scattered stands of ponderosa
pine, juniper, pinyon pine, and oaks. There are some riparian deciduous
trees in Beehouse Canyon. The views along the trail are generally to
the west.
Access and trailhead location: To access
the trails in the Pine Mountain area, exit the I-17 Freeway at the Dugas
Interchange. From there take the road to Dugas (Forest Road 68) southeast
for 18 miles to the trailhead for the Nelson
Trail about 1.25 miles east of the Double-T Ranch on Sycamore
Creek. You will have to travel Nelson Trail for about 0.8 miles
to where it intersects with Pine Flat Trail at the junction of
Beehouse Canyon and Sycamore Creek.

only.
se restrictions: This trail lies within
the Pine Mountain Wilderness and
the use of any motorized or mechanized equipment, including bicycles,
is prohibited.

Forest, east half; USGS topographic 7.5' quad for Tule Mesa.
Trail layout: From its junction with
Nelson Trail, the trail climbs steeply to the south and then
southwest for 1 mile in Beehouse Canyon. The portions of the trail
that lie within Beehouse Canyon are particularly rough at this time.
The area is very rocky and erodes easily. Once out of the canyon, the
trail turns almost due south for another 2 miles to its junction with
Nelson Trail. |
