2008 Forestwide Recreation Fee Proposal
The Prescott National Forest would like your feedback on a proposal to increase
fees at campgrounds and day use sites across the forest.
The Forest is proposing to increase fees at 16 day use sites and 15 campground/group
sites. If the proposal moves forward, changes would begin in 2009. The forest
would not propose another fee change at these sites for the next five years.
The forest is also proposing to discontinue fee collection at two sites.
This proposal does not include fees at new sites (for example, a new group
campground at Lynx Lake) or fees for cabin rentals. New fees and cabin rental
fees will be addressed when appropriate in separate proposals.
Making one change to all these sites for the next five years has several
benefits:
- The forest is valuing your time by requesting your feedback once
on this proposal rather than proposing increases on individual
sites.
- Visitors will know the recreation site prices and can be assured
they will not change for at least 5 years.
The 2004 Federal Lands Recreation
Enhancement Act (REA) permits the
Forest Service to collect user revenue at recreation sites that meet certain
criteria. The Prescott National Forest began collecting user revenue in 1998
under the Recreation Fee Demonstration Authority. Since then, fees have remained
the same at all of the original fee sites.
Below you will find basic information
about the fee proposals. For more information, download
