What You Can Do Now?

The Prescott National Forest recognizes these are the people's lands and the public should be actively involved in their planning and management. The Prescott will provide many opportunities for coordination and collaboration during the plan revision process.

Our goal is to conduct an open, two-way process between the Forest and the people we serve. Through this process we expect to obtain comments that will enable us to:

    • Understand the needs and concerns of people
    • Develop a broad information base
    • Make better decisions

Your comments about the management of the Prescott National Forest are welcome any time. The Forest Plan Revision identified 5 Needs for Change that are described in the Analysis of the Management Situation. Those needs for change were the focus for developing plan components:

  • Desired Conditions: Descriptions of where we would like to be.
  • Objectives: Estimates of amount and timing of activities intended to trend toward or achieve desired conditions.
  • Standards and Guidelines: Sideboards and guidance for activities as we work toward achieving desired conditions.
  • Management Area Direction: Sets of desired conditions, and standards and guidelines for specific geographic areas.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Strategy for determining if activities and standards and guidelines are being carried out and if activities chosen are helping the Prescott National Forest trend or achieve desired conditions.

We would like to know:

  1. What feedback do you have on the Draft Forest Plan?
  2. What modifications would you make in desired conditions or objectives?
  3. Are the standards and guidelines feasible?
  4. What would you add to the monitoring strategy?
