Potato Patch Campground and Mingus Summit Day-Use Closed for Construction

PRESCOTT, AZ, September 17, 2009 - Prescott National Forest will close Potato Patch Campground, FS Road 106, Trailhead 102 and Summit Picnic Day-Use on Monday, September 21. FS Road 106, Trailhead 102 and the Summit Picnic Day-Use will reopen late October; Potato Patch campground will reopen next season.

Prescott National Forest has received $250,000 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding for capital improvement and maintenance. The project will include minor reconstruction and sub grade repair along with resurfacing of the existing asphalt at both recreation areas.

ARRA directs the Forest Service to improve, maintain and renovate public and administrative facilities. Funds provided by ARRA will for used for roads and trails maintenance and decommissioning, recreation facility improvements, watershed restoration, abandon mine cleanup, and hazardous fuel treatments.
