Looking east across Kaibab Lake

 

Kaibab Lake is a pleasant place to spend a few hours or a few days. It is located just a couple of miles outside the town of Williams in the Williams Ranger District. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout as well as brown and brook trout. Channel cats are occasionally stocked too.

The area around the campground offers sightseeing as well. The Grand Canyon is just 60 miles away. In addition, a number of forest attractions are easily accessible from your campsite, including the Spring Valley and Historic Route 66 scenic drives.

Location and Directions

About 4 miles (6.5 km) northeast of Williams off AZ 64

From Williams, take I-40 east 2 miles to Exit 165; turn north onto AZ 64 and go about 2 miles to the campground entrance on your left. Paved and all-weather gravelled roads are suitable for passenger cars.

Facilities

63 campsites with tables and fire rings, 61 single family, 2 double family sites.6 campsites are wheelchair accessible.

One large group area with ramada and picnic tables, 2 grills, and 14 individual family sites. One small group area with ramada and picnic tables and two individual family sites.

Tents, trailers, and motorhomes up to 35 feet can be accommodated, but no utility hookups are available.

Composting toilets and Pit toilets, garbage bins, and recycle collection bins.

Potable water, hydrants located throughout the campground. Filling water tanks in motorhomes and RV's not allowed due to limted supply. Potable water supply for drinking water only.

Small boat ramp, wheelchair accessible fishing pier.

Sewage dump station available.

Amphitheater and occasional weekend daytime and evening interpretive programs.
Campground hosts on-site available to assist you.

Fees

Single site - $18 per night (one vehicle), additional vehicles $9 if it fits in designated area.

Double site - $30 per night (first two vehicles) additional vehicles $9 if it fits in designated area.

Day use of campsites in all areas is $5.00 (flat fee - single) up to 4:00 p.m.

Sewage dump station fees are $10 for campers using the campground, and $13 for visitors not staying in the campground.

Firewood bundles - $5. Ice, bait and icecream also available for sale. Fishing permits can be purchased with cash only.

Kaibab Group Site - 1/2 large group area including Pavillion/Ramada - 63 people, 14 vehicles is $156 for sites 1-7 (NRRS Code KG1)

Kaibab Group site - 1/2 large group area without Pavillion/Ramada - 63 people, 14 vehicles is $126 for sites 8-14(NRRS Code KG2)

KG1 and KG2, both group sites 1-7 and 8-14 are $382. 125 people, 28 vehicles

Picnic Pavilion Small Group (NRRS- KSG3) - $60, up to 25 people and 6 cars.

Picnic Pavilion - $30 for day use, up to 25 people and 6 cars.

Season Of Use

Full Service Season May 1 to October 1, depending on weather and road conditions.

 

Other Information

 

Restrictions

No swimming allowed in lake (City water source).
Pets must always be restrained or on a leash.
Motorbikes may be used only to enter and leave the area.
Arizona fishing license required for anyone over 14.
No boat motors larger than 10 horsepower allowed.
No waste water (gray or black-water) drained onto ground.
Maximum campground stay limit is 14 days.
