The maps on this page are GEO-PDF’s. Not only can they be viewed on your iDevice, but with the Avenza PDF Maps App from the iTunes App Store you can track where you are on the map, rotate the map to your orientation on the ground, and make and export "Placemarks" (Waypoints) as KML, or GPX files. Load the free Avenza PDF Maps app from the iTunes App Store to your iDevice. The app requires iPhone 3GS or better, 3rd Gen. iPod Touch or better, or any iPad
Android and Blackberry users should be able to view the maps as regular PDF's
The map file size is large. For best file download it is best to have 4G service or WIFI service. 3G service will work, but will be slower. Once you have the map on your iDevice web access is not necessary to view the map. For example you could download the map while in route to the fire while passing through a community that has 4G/3G service, or while in a coffee shop that has WIFI on the way.
To navigate on the map your iDevice will need 3G/4G service or an attached GPS. GPS units for iDevices can be purchased fairly cheaply from Amazon.com.
