Planning Process and Timeline

Background of the Forest Plan Revision Process

The Plan Revision Team began a process to revise the Forest Plan for the Coronado National Forest in April 2006. Their work began with drafting preliminary planning documents - the Social and Econoimic Sustainability Report, the Ecological Sustainability Report, and the Comprehensive Evaluation Report (CER). The CER summarizes the existing conditions, trends, and risks to sustainability that would indicate where the plan did not provide adequate guidance for the present and future management of the Forest. The CER also describes changes needed to bring the 20-year old management plan up-to-date. The reports were later supplemented to meet requirements of the Analysis of the Management Situation (AMS), a component of the revision process specified under the 1982 planning rule provisions.
