Plan Revision
Get Involved — Contact Us!
The Coronado National Forest recognizes that Forest lands belong to the public, and that the public should be actively involved in their planning and management. The Coronado will provide many opportunities for coordination and collaboration during the plan revision process.
Our goal is to conduct an open, two-way process between the Forest and the people we serve. Through this process we expect to obtain comments that will enable us to:
- Understand the needs and concerns of people
- Develop a broad information base
- Make better decisions
Comment Periods
The forest plan revision process is designed to provide continued opportunities for public collaboration and open participation in the development of the revised forest plan. Publishing the Notice of Intent (NOI; .pdf, 55 KB) to revise our Forest Plan began the informal comment period. A 45-day scoping period followed release of the initial working draft of the revised Forest Plan. Public collaboration continues informally throughout the refining process. A formal 45-day comment period begins when the proposed Forest Plan is released for public review with the draft Environmental Impact Statement.
Before approving the revised forest plan there will be a 30-day pre-decisional review and the opportunity to object. During the 30-day review period any person or organization who submitted written comments after the publication of the NOI (January 2010), will have standing to object to the revised forest plan.
Your comments about the management of the Coronado National Forest are welcome any time.
