Echo Canyon Trail

Location: Canjilon Ranger District

Trail Beginning: 6,600 feet

Length:
Trail to the Echo Canyon is 1/2 mile long beginning at the parking lot. Trail from Big Echo to Little Echo is approximately 1/2 mile round trip.

Access:
North on Highway 84 - from Espanola 47 miles; South on Highway 84 - from Taos 103 miles; from Chama 43 miles. Located on the west side of the road, right off of Highway 84.

Attractions and Considerations:
Canyon Trails are a local favorite. Schools, RV Clubs and other visitors take advantage of the covered picnic areas and trails. The trail from the parking lot to Echo Canyon is asphalted. The trail ascends at a moderately easy pace. The last part of the trail has stairs leading up to Echo Canyon. When your done yelling to you're heart's content, there is a nice little trail that leads to a smaller echo area. This trail passes over sandstone in some areas. The trail is moderately level. Rocks are a natural habitat for snakes, so stay on the trail and off the rocks!

Use Restriction: No motorized vehicles allowed on trail. Climbing on rocks is discouraged. Camping/hiking within the Echo Amphitheater is prohibited.

Trash Policy:
Pack-it-in, pack-it-out.
Please adhere to the "Leave No Trace" policy.
