Access:

The entrance is located on State Highway 260 approximately 4.5 miles east of the Rim Visitor Information Station or 19 miles west of Heber, Arizona

Elevation:

7680 feet above sea level.

Season:

Generally mid-May to mid-October. Earlier or later depending upon weather.

Facilities:

  • 88 family camping units, 32 units have electricity
  • Tents, trailers and motorhomes up to 75 feet
  • 3 family units are universally accessible
  • 5 quad sites - accommodate 16 people each
  • Group campsite available
  • Amphitheater
  • Campfire grills and picnic tables
  • Drinking water/Shower facilities and flush toilets
  • Vault toilets are found in campground loops

Features and Setting:

Hiking trails to Sinkhole and edge of the Mogollon Rim. This campground is approximately 5 miles from Willow Springs Lake which provides boating and fishing opportunities. It is located in a ponderosa pine forest. Be prepared for rain, often heavy, through July and August. Expect cool to cold nighttime temperatures.

  • Concessionaire operated.
  • Interpretative program at amphitheater.
  • Two vehicles and eight persons maximum per family site.
  • Public telephone near entrance.
  • Gas, telephones, and groceries, are available at Forest Lakes, 2 miles east.
  • Nearest full service community is Overgaard, AZ, 20 miles east via Hwy 260.
