High
Meadows Fire
The Hi
Meadow Fire burned nearly 11,000 acres in June 2000. The fire destroyed
58 structures including 51 homes. The suppression cost was nearly
$5.5 million; rehabilitation cost nearly $2.5 million; and property
loss, estimated at $5 to $10 million.
No campgrounds
or other facilities were destroyed in the fire however, the Strawberry
Jack, Miller Gulch and Buck Gulch trails were temporarily closed
during rehab. All have now re-opened should you like to hike
or bicycle through the burn area.
