Boreas Pass

Named after the Greek god of the North Wind, Boreas Pass, elevation 11,482 feet, is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and on the Continental Divide. Originally known as Breckenridge Pass, this was the most important stop on the Denver South Park & Pacific's Highline between Como and Breckenridge. The settlement at Boreas Pass came into existence when the DSP&P laid the Highline in 1882. During the height of Colorado's railroading, Boreas was a very busy little hamlet made up of mostly railroad and construction crews, but also served as a hostelry for weary travelers.

Despite the incredibly harsh climate, Boreas hosted a small community with the highest post office in the United States in 1896.

Typical Railroad Town, could be Boreas Pass (except Boreas Station didn't have a water tank like the one shown. The water holding tank was inside the engine house.
