Forest Service Managers Call in National Team to Help Manage the Mountain Bark Beetle Epidemic – (November 12, 2009) – The U.S. Forest Service officials asked a National Incident Management Organization (NIMO) team to assist Regional staff as they continue to address the 2.5 million acre mountain pine beetle epidemic in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming.
Continental Divide National Scenic Trail Direction Finalized – (October 5, 2009) – The U.S. Forest Service announced that it amended the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDNST) Comprehensive Plan today.
U.S. Forest Service Honors Volunteers who Responded to Helicopter Crash – (October 1, 2009) – Ten volunteers and one U.S. Forest Service employee were honored today for their heroic actions after a United States Army UH–60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed on the San Isabel National Forest August 19^th.
U.S. Forest Service and Utility Companies Proposing to Clear Powerlines of Beetle–Killed Trees – (August 24, 2009) – The Medicine Bow–Routt, Arapaho and Roosevelt, and White River National Forests are seeking public comment on the Emergency Powerline Clearing Project, a proposal to remove all dead and dying trees (i.e., hazard trees) along power lines crossing National Forest system lands in Northern Colorado.
