SNOWY RANGE SCENIC BYWAY- The Mirror Lake Picnic Ground was recently reconstructed and paved. This site includes single, double, and a group sites, a fishing platform, toilet, a path along lake shore, and a path to water and the historic CCC toilet building all accessible to people with disabilities. This facility has four designated accessible parking spots out of the thirty available parking spots. Lake Marie also located on the Snowy Range Scenic Byway has an accessible trail that skirts the southeast shore of Lake Marie. The Brush Creek Visitor Information Center, on the western boundary of the Forest, is open May through mid-October.

KENNADAY PEAK LOOKOUT –Kennaday Peak is accessible by way of Forest Road 215 just off Hwy 130. From Kennaday Peak there is a breathtaking 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains and Platte River Valley.

BATTLE HIGHWAY – The Battle Highway leads across the Sierra Madre Mountains from Encampment to Baggs. This scenic 28 mile stretch of Highway 70 is open during the summer from Memorial Day through October, weather permitting.

Several historic sites are located along the highway including the Battle town site and Edison Monument. The mining town of Battle flourished in the late 1890s and early 1900s. The Edison Monument, a stone marker dedicated to Thomas Edison, is located near Battle Lake. Located on the Continental Divide, Battle Pass provides a wide vista of the Sierra Madre Range. North of Battle Pass lies Bridger Peak with an elevation of 11,004 feet. This peak was named for Jim Bridger, a well-known mountain man of the 1800s.
In autumn, the drive from the Continental Divide to the western Forest boundary is ablaze with color. “Aspen Alley” is located north of the Battle Highway on Forest Road 801 and provides a spectacular drive through the aspen forest.
Less than a mile west of the Sandstone Work Center is the Battle Creek Overlook. This overlook offers a scenic panorama of the Continental Divide west to Battle Mountain and peaks in Colorado to the south.

HOG PARK – The old tie hack camp of Hog Park lies 20 miles south of Encampment off the Battle Highway on Forest Road 550. From the late 1890s to the early 1900s, this camp produced railroad ties for the Union Pacific Railroad. Evidence of past activities still exists in and around this area. The scenic Hog Park Reservoir was finished in 1987 and is a popular area for camping, fishing, and boating.

GRAND ENCAMPMENT MUSEUM – The Grand Encampment Museum is located in Encampment, Wyoming. This museum displays archives for US Forest Service in Region 2 including lands in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and eastern Wyoming. The museum also contains memorabilia from the area’s rich history of mining and logging.
