Abstract:

Existing National Forest System Trails on the Routt National Forest in Colorado combined with INFRA (infrastructure) table information. This is a linear event layer created from the master transportation route layer using the II_MVUM_TRAIL_ALLOW table from INFRA (Infrastructure; separate oracle database). It has attribute fields related to allowed motorized trail use and is the most appropriate layer to use when determining where motorized trail use is allowed on forest. Note that many of the trails in this layer are non-motorized and do not display on the MVUM map, only those trails that are motorized (see the individual attribute fields for the various types of motorized use) are displayed on the MVUM map.
Criteria for inclusion in this data layer "snapshot" are: Route Status = Ex - Existing and Jursidiction = FS - Forest Service, and System = NFST - National Forest System Trail

This is a linear event layer created from the master travel route layer using the information in the II_MVUM_TRAIL_ALLOW table from INFRA (a separate oracle database).
Updates were submitted from the forest to GSTC in 2000 and used by GSTC to update the Cartographic Feature Files (CFFs). The updates included GPS locations for some roads. Those updated CFFs were returned to the forest in 2004-2005 and used to create this spatial layer (all edits done by Nick Bencke, Forest GIS Specialist). They were projected into this layers projection, clipped to the Colorado state line, cleaned, dissolved on the main CFF code and merged together to form a single spatial layer. Additional spatial edits were made on-screen over a variety of background photographic layers, primarily 1 meter black and white orthophotos from the late 1990's, National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) 1 meter photography from 2005 or for some areas around Steamboat Springs CO, 1 foot and 6 inch high resolution photography from 2003. After spatial and tabular edits were completed, topology tools were used to check for dangles (many of which still exist at road ends), self intersects and overlaps. Routes were created and calibrated to match INFRA as closely as possible. This edit process was completed on 01/09/2007. Additional minor spatial updates may have been done since that time including updates for the 2009 Motor Vehicle Use Map. The routes were used in conjunction with the II_MVUM_ROAD_ALLOW view from a separate Oracle database to create this linear event layer.
