Off-Highway Vehicle Information

General Information

Off-highway DOES NOT mean off-road. Colorado State Parks OHV has special laws regarding off-highway vehicle registration; please check these before using your vehicle on the forest. The roads listed here, along with others included on the Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) are seasonally open for motor vehicle travel. It is prohibited to possess or drive a motor vehicle off of roads or on roads not included on the MVUM.

During the winter months, some of these back roads are closed due to weather conditions or wildlife habitat. Check the Forest Road Status web page to find out which gates are open and which are closed. Stop by your local district office and pick up a free copy of the Motor Vehicle Use Map or buy a Forest Visitor Map. These will aid you on your journey through public/private property. With various recreational activities being conducted, we ask you to Tread Lightly and share the forest.
