ARAPAHO/ROOSEVELT RADIO NETWORK The Arapaho/Roosevelt National Forests radio system facilitates widespread communications for interagency fire management applications. The system is not available for use by cooperators except where cooperative agreements and proper licensing have been obtained. The two primary frequencies of 169.175 (Roosevelt Net) and 169.875 (Arapaho Net) may be monitored by anyone. Daily fire weather forecasts, local and national situation reports, fire danger ratings are broadcast daily on these frequencies during fire season and cooperating agencies are encouraged to monitor and use this information. This information is broadcast at around 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM using the Buckhorn, Squaw and South Cottonwood sites. System design: The radio system is comprised of two primary systems. One for the Roosevelt side and one for the Arapaho side. The primary installation at Fort Collins Interagency Dispatch center is linked to both sides and has interagency communications with other federal, state and county agencies through base radio installations at the center. The Dispatch Center is linked to the primary installation at Buckhorn Mountain by a phone line links. These links allow for the use of the Roosevelt Base radio, Air Net and Air Guard base radios from a mountain top location. The Roosevelt base radio can than use the Deadman, Twin Sisters and Thorodin repeaters to communicate with field personnel and cooperators from boulder to the wyoming border.
