Boulder Ranger District

Welcome to the Boulder Ranger District! Elevations start at 7,000 feet in the lower foothills of the Rocky Mountains and soar to over 13,000 feet on the Continental Divide. Home to the east side of the Indian Peaks Wilderness, the Peak-to-Peak Highway and hundreds of miles of hiking, biking and four-wheel-drive roads, the Boulder Ranger District offers something for everyone. Located primarily in Boulder County and the northern portions of Gilpin County, the Boulder Ranger District covers 250,000 acres of the Front Range mountains. About 160,000 acres of that area are national forest and 87,000 acres are private lands interspersed within the national forest boundary.
