Whitestone Harbor Recreation Site

Map showing parking and beach access at the Whitestone Harbor recreation site.

The curved, coarse gravel beach at Whitestone Harbor is backed by trees and provides a view of mountains.Located 15 miles south of Hoonah, at the end of Forest road 8530-4, this was the former location of a logging camp. Available is space for dispersed camping, picnicking, shore fishing, and viewing scenery. An unsurfaced roadway leads into the bay and can be used for launching boats at high tide. Gravel beaches lead in both directions from the road end, providing opportunity for viewing marine life along the waterline. Fishing and pleasure boats often anchor in the protected seclusion of the harbor.
