Admiralty Island Recreation

Adirondak Shelters on Admiralty Island (no reservations, no fees)

Lake Alexander Shelter - There is a shelter at the east end of the lake. A 2.75 mile trail to salt water begins at the shelter at the east end of the lake. The salt water destination is Mole Harbor where another shelter exists.

Mole Harbor Shelter - There is a shelter in Mole Harbor at the salt water end of the Lake Alexander - Mole Harbor Trail, which leads to a shelter at the east end of Lake Alexander (Photo, 35 KB).

Trails on Admiralty Island

Admiralty Cove -Young Lake Trail is a 4 1/2 mile trail that departs from the Admiralty Cove Cabin and ends at North Young Cabin. It is a relatively flat trail and follows the creek at each end of the trail. The round trip hike can be fairly strenuous when conditions are very wet.

Lake Alexander - Mole Harbor Trail is a 2.75 mile trail between Mole Harbor on salt water and the east end of Lake Alexander.
