Route

Put-in point: Kake

Length: 85 miles

Tide-dependent: yes

Portages: 1/ 1.5 miles (2.5 km)

Route:

  • From Kake south down Keku Strait to head of Port Camden.
  • 1.5 mile portage to Bay of Pillars on west side of Kuiu Island.
  • Through Bay of Pillars to Chatham Strait. Forest Service 3-sided shelter in Bay of Pillars. Very narrow passage in bay requires slack water.
  • North up Chatham Strait to Kingsmill Point. Very exposed
  • Northeast to Cornwallis Point. Very exposed
  • Back to Kake.
