Put-in point: Petersburg

Length: 75 miles

Tide-dependent: yes

Major crossings: 2

Route:

  • From Petersburg southeast along the shore of Mitkof Island to Ideal Cove.
  • Across Frederick Sound tidal flats to LeConte Bay. Cross at high tide.
  • Explore LeConte Bay. Icebergs.
  • Northwest along the Horn Cliffs.
  • From Point Agassiz across Frederick Sound to the Sukoi Islets to Kupreanof Island shore. Best at either slack tide
  • Back into Petersburg harbor at high tide. The mouth of Wrangell Narrows can be treacherous when the tide runs.
