Recreation Opportunities

The Yakutat Area provides a number of possibilities for outdoor recreation.

• Sport fishing is certainly the most popular recreational activity on the district. The Situk, Italio, Akwe Rivers, as well as Tawah Creek and several smaller waterways, provide noted opportunities for the sports angler.
• Short hiking trails lead to Harlequin Lake and Russell Fiord.
• A variety of river-oriented activities are possible in the district.
• The Cannon Beach Picnic Area provides access to oceanside, beach and surf activities.
• We have several noted hiking opportunities in the District.
• Rental cabins are available at a many locations in the Forest. We have a map of cabins in the Yakutat area, as well as a listing of our cabins:
