Wrangell Fishery Program

The members of Wrangell's fisheries and aquatic resources group focus their work in two areas.

  • Protection and conservation: They review various District projects like timber sales and road construction to ensure no damage is done to aquatic habitat and organisms during the project’s implementation and maintenance.

  • Restoration and enhancement: Restoration efforts include modifying or removing road-caused migration barriers, improving riparian vegetation, and rehabilitating stream channels. Enhancement projects include modifying or removing natural stream barriers to let anadromous fish reach unoccupied or partially inhabited habitats and other aquatic habitat improvement projects.
