ATV Guidelines

  • Guide to ATV and Snowmobile Use on National Forest Lands adjacent to Sitka road system
  • Kruzof Island - North Beach users - According to the MVUM, the beach area below mean high tide is the only area designated for open riding. Use the newly designated trail to North Beach. All old OHV access routes to North beach are now closed as well as the dune grass bluff. Riders must stay off vegetated portions of the lower beach to assist with stabilizing the beach and protecting the upper beach meadow which is habitat for sensitive species. Refer to posted maps and follow the sign posts to access the beach.

MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Maps)

  • Forest Service Opens Closed Roads For OHV Use - September 03, 2010 - Sitka, AK—The new Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) for the Sitka Ranger District is now available, including several newly opened areas. This free, small and easy-to-pack map includes all the possible areas to ride OHVs on the Sitka Ranger District.
