DESCRIPTION:
A spacious parking lot and boat ramp newly constructed in 2005 provides
saltwater access to the west coast of Prince of Wales Island.
LOCATION:
About 38 road miles from Thorne Bay, 45 road miles
from Craig, or 14 road miles from Forest Road 20/Coffman
Cove Road junction. The launch is located off Forest Road
2050.

TERRAIN: Gently sloping with dense second
growth forest surrounding the access site. The vegetation
is typical of southeast Alaska. Skunk cabbage, devils club,
and assorted ferns and mosses provide ground cover.

SPECIAL
FEATURES:
Launching into Tuxecan Passage near the southern tip of Tuxecan Island
provides excellent access to the productive fishing areas of Sea Otter
Sound. Or, spend one or several days exploring the protected waters and
many small islands with your kayak. Be sure to bring binoculars for viewing
waterfowl, seabirds, bald eagles, and other wildlife.
