Watershed Vegetation
Our watersheds are an intricate maze of forest, wetlands and bedrock.
Lush spruce, hemlock and cedar forest tower over a rich understory of huckleberry, salmonberry, devil's club and skunk cabbage. A rich array of wildflowers brightens the estuaries, alpine meadows and roadsides.
Forest and wetland plants play an essential role in regulating the amount and quality of water that reaches streams. Healthy watershed vegetation is important to ecosystem well being.
