What Can You Do to Keep Your Waters Clean?

 

Mountain streamsOften the water that runs in our streams also flows through our faucets. Keeping our watersheds clean and healthy will help to ensure a pure source of drinking water for generations to come. Small actions by many citizens can have huge impacts.

Here's how you can help:Stream from lake

  • Dispose of waste properly
  • Properly dispose of batteries, fuels, and other contaminant materials
  • Dispose of fishing line in trash receptacles
  • Maintain your septic system
  • Use diapers, towels or other absorbent material when fueling boats, ATV’s, lawn mowers etc.
  • Pick up and properly dispose of pet waste
  • Minimize pesticide and herbicide use
  • Use proper amount of fertilizer on lawns
  • Keep your car tuned up and repair leaks
  • Use earth friendly cleaning supplies
  • Educate yourself and others about your watershed
