Kids' Fishing Day

Kids' Fishing Day is our annual island-wide public fishing festival.
It is traditionally held the first Saturday of June, in conjunction with
National Fishing and Boating week. While a day of casting for trout in
the sunshine might seem like pure pleasure, our goal is to promote family-oriented
outdoor recreation, and encourage outdoor ethics and aquatic conservation.
Over 200 people attend the festival each year and enjoy a range of activities
like fly-tying demonstrations, a casting contest, lakeshore fishing,
a catch and release demonstration, aquatic insect identification, fish
hat design, fish printing, and a BBQ.
