Karst & Caves of Southeast Alaska -
A Teacher's Resource
Thanks to an innovative partnership, teachers throughout the state now
have the opportunity to teach their children about the incredible karst
resources of Southeast Alaska.
In 1998, the Tongass partnered with the
University of Alaska-Southeast to produce a karst and cave curriculum.
However, only 50 copies of the curriculum were produced in this first
effort-and they were quickly snapped up!
In 2003, Terry Fifield formed
a partnership with the Thorne Bay School to hire a developmentally-challenged
student to produce 500 copies of the curriculum on CD. These CDs
will be distributed throughout Alaska, and the curriculum is available
in
PDF format.
