Fishing Around Ketchikan
The wide range of habitat on our district supports diverse opportunities for fishing (and catching) by any angler.
Fishing the isolated lakes and streams for trout and Dolly Varden provides a one of a kind experience. Many lakes, rivers, and stre ams offer a rare opportunity to fish for all five species of salmon, as well as Steelhead,
Cutthroat Trout, and Dolly Varden. Charged with managing the habitat, the Forest Service also protects and enhances spawning and rearing areas critical to the vibrant “Wild Alaskan Salmon” fishery.
Explore this site to find valuable resources for fishing on the Ketchikan-Misty Fiords Ranger District; also, find out more about what our fisheries program does. Hopefully our site will answer some of your questions.
