Tsimshian totem pole

Tsimshian Totem Pole
Carver - David Boxley
Eagle Clan

The pole displays the four main crests of the Coast Tsimshian people. They are, top to bottom, the Eagle, the Killer Whale, the Wolf and the Raven. All Tsimshians belong to one of these clans. This pole is dedicated to all Tsimshian peoples.

The three Alaska Native tribes had a common cultural, economic and environmental background. They were all hunters and gatherers who lived along the river valleys and the coastal waters of the Pacific Northwest, skillfully using the abundant resources of river, sea and forest.
