Southeast Alaska Discovery Center
Public ProgramsFriday Night Insights start up each year in November and end with the Alaska Hummingbird Festival in April. Programs are held in the visitor center's auditorium. Join a diverse group of guest speakers, including book authors and researchers every Friday night at 7PM. Friday Night Insights are free to the public. We hope to see you.
Educators may arrange special programs with Forest Service guides for students in pre-school through high school. During the winter the visitor center staff needs two weeks of advance notice to arrange for programs. Programs include indoor activities that focus on exhibits at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center. Our more popular topics include senses, natural cycles, habitat, salmon, trees, and ecosystems. The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center offers education kits perfect for class room teaching. Additional programs may be available on request or to find out more about kits or to check out a kit, please contact Leslie Swada at (907) 228-6247.
