Access: By shallow draft boat 18 miles NE from Wrangell; low river levels limit access to cabin and Twin Lakes
Terrain: Relatively flat with meadows nearby; steep mountains behind Twin Lakes area; depending on river level, sand beach between river bank and slough; vegetation mostly grasses, Sitka spruce, cottonwood, alder, willow
Facilities:
  • 2 single plywood bunks, 1 with trundle
  • Sleeping loft with ladder
  • Wooden table and benches
  • Oil stove (#1 stove oil only, NOT provided)
  • Broom
  • Outhouse toilet
Water available from lake or slough. Treat all water before using.
What to bring: #1 fuel oil, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags, fire extinguisher and fire starter. It's a good idea to bring your own water.
More information: 14' or higher tide generally required to cross Stikine River tideflats. Local knowledge of river conditions and experience operating shallow draft boats may allow crossing tideflats on smaller tides. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays; users should be prepared for this.
Special features: Cabin overlooks Limb Island, upper end of Hooligan Slough. Trail to outhouse, nearby picnic sites on south shore of Twin Lakes (Figure 8 Lake).

Brown bear, black bear, moose, mountain goats in adjacent mountains.

Pink (July-Aug), silver (Aug.-Sept), and chum salmon in Dog Salmon Creek (North Arm Creek) - 1.7 miles west of cabin, cutthroat trout (May-Sept)
