2011 Alert for Lake Eva Cabin: This cabin is scheduled for replacement sometime in 2011. Since the contracts to replace this cabin has not yet been awarded, it is unclear what dates the cabin will be unavailable for reservations in 2011. This is a “heads up” to potential Lake Eva Cabin users in 2011 that once the cabin replacement contracts are awarded, specific dates will be known and NRRS (www.recreation.gov) will be instructed to cancel reservations that fall within the reconstruction dates. The Forest Service regrets any inconvenience this may cause. However, new cabins are enjoyable to everyone.

DO NOT leave food behind when vacating this cabin. Pack out all gear that you bring.

Square-bowed skiff (rowboat) provided is small but heavy. Uses long-shaft 2-10 hp outboard motor (not provided). Each person in skiff should have Coast Guard approved pfd. Be sure plug is in before launching boat. Please tie skiff well up on shore and pull plug before leaving, so boat does not fill with rain water.

Boardwalk opens up to deck area with outdoor fire pit, picnic table with wheelchair access, and fishing platform with guard rail. One of two outhouses also has boardwalk to it with barrier-free access.

Boat ride across lake gives access to Lake Eva-Hanus Bay trai, which winds along opposite side of lake and to Hanus Bay (not wheelchair-accessible).

Outlet stream of Lake Eva supports small spring run of steelhead April to June, sockeye run in mid-July to mid-August, large fall coho salmon run September to October. Cutthroat and Dolly Varden fishing possible year around, best April to late June.

Deer and brown bear frequent the area.
