What to bring: Sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags, fire extinguisher, and fire starter and rubber boots. It's a good idea to bring your own water.
More information: Care should be taken when unloading and anchoring as the surf breaks along a pumice-rock shoreline. No good protected anchorage during rough weather. A mooring buoy is provided but is exposed to rough water. Mooring buoy available on first-come, first-served basis for boat anchorage. Cabin reservations does not include exclusive use of buoy. There have been reports of erratic and abnormally large waves on Kruzof Island at low slack tide. Avoid approaching the beach and unloading while tide is turning. Non-boaters or out-of-town visitors are encouraged to use services of a local charter boat operator. Because of the wave action, float planes are unable to land at the cabin.

Firewood may be in short supply or temporarily out at any time of the year.

DO NOT leave food behind when vacating this cabin. Pack out all gear that you bring. Camping within 200 feet of this cabin by anyone other than the person reserving the cabin is prohibited.

Special features: Cabin is a popular spot for Sitka residents.

Beachcomb, hike to Mt. Edgecumbe, or view surf breaking on the rocky shoreline.

Interesting pumice and volcanic rock formations on beach and in Fred's Creek.

6.7-mile (10.8-km) Mt. Edgecumbe Trail offers a gradual hike to the cone of Mt. Edgecumbe through miles of muskeg alternating with forest. At cone, trail becomes very steep, but hikers are rewarded with panoramic view on clear days.

Deer and brown bear. Good deer hunting is possible.
