Mooring buoy (anchored in 16' of water with 50' (15 m)
chain) available on first-come, first-served basis for boat
anchorage. Buoy is for cabin users or general forest users.
Erratic and abnormally large waves have been reported on
Kruzof Island at low slack tide. Avoid approaching beach
by boat and unloading while tide is turning. Access by float
plane is very difficult or impossible. Non-boaters or out-of-town
visitors are encouraged to use a local charter boat operator.
Weather permitting, this cabin is accessible year around.
DO NOT leave food behind when vacating this cabin. Pack
out all gear that you bring.
Cabin is NOT maintained during the winter. Firewood may
be in short supply or temporarily out at any time of year.
The original A-frame cabin located here was donated by a
former Forest Service district ranger in memory of his teen-age
son, Brent, who along with two friends drowned nearby in
Sitka Sound while halibut fishing in the early 1970s. In
1985, the current cabin replaced the well-worn A-frame.
