Season of use: Year-round. Cabin may be inaccessible in fall, winter, and early spring due to frozen lake surface (float planes cannot land).
Description: 12' x 12' Pan-Abode precut cedar log cabin with large covered porch
Location:

Sarkar Lake near start of Sarkar Lake Canoe Route, 48 road miles (78 km) from Craig, 63 miles (102 km) from Hollis, and 76 air miles (122 km) NW of Ketchikan.

Access:  Float plane or 26 road miles (42 km) drive, north on State Highway 925, turns to gravel after 14 miles where it also turns into Forest Road 20, then 2 miles (3 km) by canoe or skiff from Sarkar trailhead.
Terrain: Flat to gently rolling with old-growth forest

Although wood is provided, it cannot be guaranteed. Please use it sparingly.

What to bring: Bring your personal flotation devices, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags and fire starter. It's a good idea to bring your own water.
More information: Large parking area, boat ramp and toilet at trailhead. Skiffs provided for cabin users, one at boat ramp and one at cabin. Take care when boating, numerous rocks in lake. Good marine chart recommended.
Special features: Surrounding scenery characteristic of temperate rain forest. Old growth forest towers over muskegs, lakes and streams. Area has rich cultural history of Native American settlements, fox farming, extensive trapping. Sarkar Canoe Route begins on Sarkar Lake, goes 15 miles (24 km) into backcountry with several portages connecting 7 lakes with high quality fishing. Trumpeter swans in fall and spring.
