9 miles (14 km) by float plane from Petersburg (only
when lake is ice-free); 4 miles (6 km) up Petersburg Creek
by boat (15' tide required) plus 6½ mile hike;
or ½ mile across Wrangell Narrows by boat to Kupreanof
State Dock plus 10.3 mile (16.6 km) hike.

toilet paper, garbage bags, fire extinguisher and fire starter.
It's a good idea to bring your own water. |

old growth spruce and hemlock forest of the Petersburg
Creek-Duncan Salt Chuck Wilderness.
Outstanding steelhead, coho, sockeye fishing in creek.
Cutthroat trout, sockeye salmon in lake. Plentiful wildlife
and wildflowers. Black bears, eagles.

Petersburg Lake trail through forest to Kupreanof
State Dock; more primitive Portage
Mountain trail to Portage Bay and Duncan Canal. |
