Description: Rustic style 12' X 14' Pan Abode log cabin built in 1967.
Location: 50 air miles (80 km) from Ketchikan, on the Cleveland Peninsula northwest of Short Bay.

Access: Float plane or boat. May be inaccessible in fall, winter and early spring due to frozen lake surface (float plane can't land). Boat access via 2-mile (3 km) hike from Short Bay. Anchor buoy in Short Bay.
Terrain: Heavily wooded to the lake shore and backed by hills.

Water is available from a nearby creek. Treat all water before using.
What to bring: Flotation devices, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags, fire extinguisher and fire starter. It's a good idea to bring your own water.
More information: Skiff will take short-shaft motor (not provided).

Please conserve firewood; supplied firewood is for stove use only.

Special features: Spectacular view of steep mountains directly across the lake with clinging ice fields visible through much of the season. Trail follows lake shore to outlet, crosses scenic open muskeg on the way to Short Bay.

Steelhead and salmon runs in short Creek. Resident trout and dolly varden in lake. Sitka blacktail deer, black bear, brown bear, mountain goat, wolf, beaver, marten, mink, and otter.
