Description: Rustic style 12' x 12' Pan-Abode log cabin built in 1964.
Location: 35 air miles (56 km) from Ketchikan at the west end of Orchard Lake on the north end of Revillagigedo Island.

Access: Float plane or boat. May be inaccessible in fall, winter and early spring due to frozen lake surface (float planes cannot land).  Boat access involves a 1-mile (1.6 km) hike from the Shrimp Bay trail head to the cabin. Mooring buoy located in nearby Klu Bay.
Terrain: Old-growth cedar, Sitka spruce, and western hemlock rain forest.

Water is available from the lake or nearby creeks. Treat all water before using.
What to bring: Fuel (#1 Stove oil), personal flotation devices, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags, fire extinguisher and fire starter. It's a good idea to bring your own water.
More information: Buoy is on a first-come, first-serve basis; more than one vessel is allowed if first party there agrees.

Transport #1 fuel oil for stove in an FAA approved container or jerry jug.

The skiff uses a short shaft motor (not provided). Oars are provided; life jackets are NOT provided.

Special features: Trail from the cabin through old-growth cedar, Sitka spruce, and western hemlock rain forest to salt water. Trail junction leads to lake outlet; spur leads to overlook of one of two waterfalls spilling out of Orchard Lake.

Cutthroat trout and kokanee in the lake. Sitka blacktail deer, black bear, wolf, beaver, marten, mink, and otter.
