Juneau and Skagway Area Cabins
Description: This is a Log Chalet type cabin with beautiful stonework and fireplace.
Location: Approximately 18 miles east of Juneau, at the west end of Turner Lake. Longitude: -133.955; Latitude: 58.3122222
Terrain: Terrain around the cabin is rocky and very brushy. Rocks in front of the cabin slope directly to the water. Caution should be taken if children are present.

Water is available from lake or nearby stream. Treat all water before using. Bring your own fuel for the oil stove (#1 Stove oil), sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags, fire extinguisher, fire starter, mosquito netting and personal flotation devices.
Additional Comments: Cabin access is via float plane (35 minute flight charge from Juneau) or by boating up the Taku Inlet and then hiking 0.8 mile to Turner Lake. Some areas of Taku Inlet are quite shallow; be sure to check nautical charts and tide tables. Shallow draft boats are recommended. Late winter thaw for this lake with high avalanche danger in winter and early spring.
Special Features: Spectacular scenery with cliffs and numerous waterfalls cascading into the lake. Two boats are available for fishing. Cutthroat, Dolly Varden, and kokanee fishing in lake, pink salmon fishing in Turner River and Taku Inlet; mountain goat, bear and waterfowl hunting in season. Reminder: specific fishing regulations apply to the Turner Lake area. Check Alaska Department of Fish and Game regulations.
Rental fee: $35 per night.
