Recreation

Photograph of couple walking past a sign on a forest trail. The two national forests in Alaska, the Tongass and the Chugach, are large, very wild, and mostly remote, but there are many trails, cabins, campgrounds, and activities to enjoy. In Southeast Alaska, travel is usually by boat or floatplane -- most towns do not have roads to them. The glacier-filled Chugach National Forest is wrapped around spectacular Prince William Sound.
