Icy Straits-Lynn Canal Resource Advisory Committee Seeking Members

JUNEAU, Alaska- The Forest Service needs committee members for the Icy Straits-Lynn Canal Resource Advisory Committee. The 15-member committee will advise the Forest Service on spending over $300,000 provided to the State under the Title II of the 2008 Secure Rural Schools Act.

Resource Advisory Committees may recommend the use of Title II funds for the protection, restoration, and enhancement of fish and wildlife habitat, and other resource objectives consistent with the Secure Rural Schools Act on national forests. Those funds may also be used on non-federal land where projects would benefit the resources on national forests. Resource advisory committees propose and monitor projects under Title II.

People interested in serving on the Icy Straits-Lynn Canal RAC should contact Hoonah District Ranger Rich Jennings at (907) 945-1201 or rdjennings@fs.fed.us. Jennings can provide more information and application forms.

People can find application form AD-755 on line at http://www.ocio.usda.gov/forms/ocio_forms.html

Detailed information concerning the makeup, functions and responsibilities of resource advisory committees under the 2008 Secure Rural Schools Act is on the Web at http://www.fs.fed.us/srs/racs.shtml.
