Visiting this freshwater marsh is a wildlife watcher's dream. A few common birds which may be viewed include a variety of dabbling ducks, Canada geese, shorebirds, hawks, and songbirds.

Wildlife viewing does not end with birds. Sitka black-tailed deer, beaver, and river otters are also common in the area. Even an occasional visit from a brown bear can be expected.

Safety First:
Please stay on the designated path or in the viewing blind. Remain quiet and still while viewing wildlife. Do not attempt to approach waterfowl nests or their young. Waterfowl will not be disturbed if you stay at least 200 yards away.

Keep your eyes open for brown bears as they are in the area. Please read the "bear sense" web page for information on how to behave in bear country.

Directions:
From Hoonah drive east out of town on Forest Service Road 8502. Follow this road for 30 miles, turn west at the junction and follow Forest Service Road 8510 for eight miles.
