Federal Grant for "More Kids in the Woods"
The “More Kids in the Woods Challenge Cost-Share” projects are designed to help rural and urban children connect to the land in a hands-on, interactive way. MORE
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act - ARRA
The Kootenai National Forest recently awarded several contracts and work is underway on forest projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Over $1 million has been awarded to date. Approximately $12 million is anticipated to be awarded this winter and spring.
The Kootenai National Forest will be soliciting for numerous construction, service, and supply contracts throughout the Fiscal Year (October, 2009-September, 2010) under the ARRA.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Project Narratives are only a brief synopsis of the intent of the contract. Projects may be consolidated, divided, or possibly omitted. The formal contracts will have specific work descriptions, including quantities and other pertinent information required to submit a bid.
Sparring Bulls Project Open House

Kootenai National Forest Awards Stimulus Contracts
News Release - 10/14/2009 - Kootenai Forest Supervisor Paul Bradford announced that several projects on the forest have been awarded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for road maintenance and forest health and protection work. MORE
Three Rivers Ranger District Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) Decision Notice (DN) and Final Environmental Assessment (EA) Now Available
The Forest Service released the final rule for managing recreational Off Highway Vehicle use on the National Forests in November 2005. The Rule provides a framework for each National Forest to identify and designate roads, trails, and areas suitable for motorized use, and prohibits use of motor vehicles off the designated system. The Kootenai National Forest is began with the Three Rivers Ranger District. The Decision Notice and Final Environmental Assessment is now available. MORE
