Marsh Creek and Tarhead Livestock Allotment Management
Plan Project
Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS)
Lincoln Ranger District
The Helena National Forest proposes to reauthorize grazing
of livestock on the Marsh Creek and Tarhead allotments, on the Lincoln
Ranger District, under 10-year permits. Each permit would incorporate
a new allotment management plan (AMP), developed to improve range conditions,
particularly in riparian areas. The new AMPs would also provide opportunities
to adapt management as needed, based upon monitoring of both riparian
and upland sites. The Marsh Creek Allotment is located just east of
the Continental Divide, southeast of Granite Butte. The Tarhead Allotment
is located on the east side of the Continental Divide, south of Flesher
Pass.
The Final EIS will be prepared this summer,
following receipt and analysis of public comments on this DEIS. We will
be accepting comments for 45 days. Notification of the availability
of the DEIS is expected to appear in the Federal Register within the
next 1-2 weeks. This will begin the 45-day comment period. When the
deadline for receipt of comments is established, it will be posted on
this website.
You may send your comments via e-mail or
written form. Our e-mail address is comments-northern-helena@fs.fed.us.
