Elkhorns: Wildlife

[Photograph]: A fawn resting in the grass. The Elkhorns offer unique opportunities for viewing wildlife in their natural habitat. Although often touted for their spectacular elk population, many other animals such as bighorn sheep, mule and white-tailed deer, black bear, moose, and a variety of birds are commonly seen. Some other animals such as badger, wolverine, mountain lions and lynx are more reclusive and seldom seen. Habitat enhancements such as prescribed fire and aspen regeneration are designed to create and maintain a diversity of habitats for this myriad of wildlife species.

Respect the wildlife you see, from the feathered blue grouse to the lumbering black bear. Remember, you are a visitor in their home!
