Description:

Abstract:: Northern Idaho abandoned and inactive mine locations. This dataset was compiled by the USDA Forest Service Northern Region. The information was updated during the USDA Forest Service (Region 1) and U.S. Bureau of Land Management mine inventory (conducted from 1992 to 2002). The coordinates and legal descriptions come from sources of varying accuracy.
Purpose:: Identification of mine sites, locations, and attributes compiling past data with current research results. Emphasis is on those sites that have potential environmental effects on USFS-administered land.

Exported spreadsheet to CSV file and created point coverage using ArcInfo GENERATE command. Reprojected to R1 Albers. Imported XLS into ArcInfo table and joined attributes. Many points did not contain X/Y coordinates and were deleted from the spreadsheet. A few points had 'bad' X/Y coordinates and were also deleted.
