Welcome

Stretching along the west side of the continental divide from
the US Canadian border south approximately 120 miles lies the 2.3
million acre Flathead National Forest. The landscape is built from
block fault mountain ranges sculpted by glaciers, and covered with
a rich thick forest. By providing abundant recreation and a wealth
of natural resources, the Flathead is a perfect place to relax and
enjoy your National Forests!

Recovery and Reinvestment Act - ARRA

The Flathead National Forest will be soliciting for numerous construction,
service, and supply contracts throughout the Fiscal Year (October,
2009-September, 2010) under the ARRA. The
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Project Narratives
are only a brief synopsis of the intent
of the contract. Projects may be consolidated, divided, or possibly
omitted. The formal contracts will have specific work descriptions,
including quantities and other pertinent information required to
submit a bid. Maps of each project can be viewed by clicking on
the project title in the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Project Narratives
document or viewing the map
index.

An Extension of the Artist-Wilderness-Connection Program
Special Event features Montana Artists
more>
The Artist-Wilderness-Connection Program is a cooperative
artist-in-residence program that connects Montana artists
and local communities with local wild lands. Professional
working artists of various disciplines, media and styles spend
time in a remote forest cabin on the Flathead National Forest
to focus on their art. After completing their residency, artists
select a format to share their talents and residency experience
with the community and donate a representative piece of their
art to the program.
Much of the artwork created since the program was initiated
in 2004 will be on display in the Arts and Technology Building
at Flathead Valley Community College September 10 through
October 22. Artwork from college students will also be featured
during this time.
